This hotel is on the ocean, with a full kitchen for less than 70 per night - can't beat it. Right across from a mall that has EVERYTHING!

Three years ago we stayed at the Hawaiian Inn and had a terrific time. This year we decided to try something different.(HUGE MISTAKE!). The LaPlaya was rated a 3 star -vs- 2 stars for the Hawaiian. Don't be mislead by ratings. The ONLY thing that was good about the LaPlaya was the Staff. (Polite, courteous and helpful!) We booked 4 nights but checked out after 1 and went back to the Hawaiian, Which was not only twice as nice but $* per night less. Lesson Learned, next time I call the Hawaiian!!

We enjoyed the hotel. It's been upgraded since our previous visit (4/04). However, some work still needs to be done. But, the location is excellent, the beach front is excellent, the bar is great! For what you are paying, it really can't be beat!

I don't think we expected as much as some of the other people that posted reviews, but everyone is pretty much dead on. The view is awesome. The comforters seamed like they had been washed about 1000 times with tons of thos little lint balls all over them. The rooms definitely need updating. Another problem we had was both the indoor and outdoor pools did not have any towels. Overall, I would stay here again if I could not find anything better.

Spending $* a night in a room that was quite unappealing to the eyes really made me wonder. If it wasn't for it being on the beach, I would have asked for my money back. If your just sleeping here, then its alright - but don't spend much time in the room. We were located across from the utility room which was quite loud and the entire hotel just seemed to need more attention to detail.

My family and I stayed at the LaPlaya Resort back in July 2006, and to sum it all up, our stay left a lot to be desired. The rooms were outdated and were in desperate need of upgrading. The elevators were painfully slow and the bathrooms were very small and cramped. For the money that was spent, we expected a whole lot more than what we got. Would probably consider staying here again if they invested more money into the property.
