Reviewed by Robert S. of Eastontown, NJ USA on Feb-2008 Stayed at the Property - Jan-2008 Spent a week using the AKU TIKI as our home base - because of it's location and resonable rates we were able to do much more on our vacation. We rented bicycles from a stand right in back of the hotel and rode the beach - it was hard to keep up with the kids on the "banana bikes". Recommend the Best Western Aku Tiki to all.

People smoked IN the pool around playing children, on the balconies of non-smoking rooms so that we couldn't even sit out and enjoy the ocean view we paid extra for, and there were ashes and butts EVERYWHERE. Management's response to my concerns were that there's no laws against public smoking in Florida and that they pay their bills like everyone else does. This is not a family-friendly hotel at all, unless you're a family of smokers and are used to it.

The Aku Tiki is now our new favorite place to stay in the Daytona Beach area. From the Tikis out front, to the Koi pond with the bridge going into Trader's restaurant (attached), to the activities for children under the covered activity area, basketball goal, shuffleboard area, to the beautiful grounds and the beach, this may be the best value on the beach.
