Looked like a throwback to the 1970s. But, they were responsive when I asked them to fix the non-working thermostat (or I would have to leave). The location can't be beat, and they even provided a little pool-side dinner service at my request. Rates aren't bad, and I've seen both better and worse.

The staff treated me like royalty, welcoming me to the hotel with a gift bag, tellilng me that they were expecting me vs "checking in". I travel for business and rarely see this kind of treatment. This hotel has a great location and a wonderful charm about it. This looks like my new home away from home when I travel to Sacramento. I'll be back!!!

However, there were holes in the hallway ceiling from leaks and the place smelled as old as it looked. My room was VERY cold because the entire wall was a sliding glass door to the courtyard. I turned on the very loud heater and after 2 hours I was still freezing! The toilet ran and there was no bathtub, only a shower. At 9 p.m. on my first night there I checked out and drove to a Hampton Inn in Rancho Cordova to get a decent night's sleep. For a chain you'd expect better, I'd definitely avoid this Clarion!
