The hotel is older, but we found it to be quite charming with extremely friendly, helpful staff. Our room had a clean bathroom, but no mirror in the bedroom. We enjoyed the proximity to the beach, and walking distance to lots of restaurants and stores. We appreciated the nice continental breakfast on the patio each morning. |

Bathroom needed a complete overhaul (wore my flip-flops in the shower), but bed was comfy. I wonder if the place has been re-done since the previous reviews? Anyway, the staff was SO NICE and helpful, we got two free drink tickets at check in (could use at Essex or the Clevlander). The free breakfast was pretty good - coffee, tazo tea, bagels, yogurt, danish, fruit, much better than other value hotels. Not sure why everyone else seemed to hate it so much. What do you want for $*/nt? |

Rooms meet immediate needs, tidy, running hot water, bed, working TV. Carpets need redoing, so bring slippers. Location?s GREAT and that should be one of your main focuses. If you?re going for basking in hotel services and accommodations then its not the right place for you. If your looking for a room-ible environment with attentive, friendly staff then Essex is a great place. Only issue we had was asking for the maids to come change the towels twice. Cleaning staff need replacing more than the carpets. |
