We couldn't believe how close we were to the beach. X checked us in & she was nothing like previous reviews stated about the staff. She was extremely friendly and very helpful. We were amazed that from our room 2009 we could see the beautiful water & diamond head. If you're interested in chocolates on your pillows and a piano player in the lobby, then book somewhere else. Besides, who goes to Hawaii to sit in their hotel room? Great location, close to water, shops, aquarium, zoo, diamond head. Couldn't have asked for a better deal!!!

Pros: Close to beach
Cons: Updated furnishings & maybe a fresh coat of paint

The hotel is an older building, but I was told they are starting to remodel it and this time next year it will be very nice. The rooms are standard, but clean. But first and formost is the staff. All friendly...front desk, house keepers and maintenance (which did a small repair on the dripping turn off valve) and was there to fix it before I could hang up the phone. They all helped us find anything we were looking for. They all made you feel like you were visiting a friend, not like it was part of their job talk to you, making my stay more enjoyable.

The hotel is efficient. It smells kinda wierd, you are kind of pelted by the shower, and you are at the mercy of really slow elevators, but Waikiki beach is SO CLOSE! If you are more into experiencing Hawaii rather than hanging in your hotel, this is the place. The staff is nice if you are friendly first...not a good thing, but nothing to flip out about. So what if they talk crap about the customers? Im on vacation, and they are not. The parking and amenities are kind of a rip off, but its comfertable for the most part...just bring your own blanket.

It was the worst, most disgusting hotel in hawaii. I was on my honeymoon with my wife and we couldn't stay there that long. The staff was rude and talked bad about the customers in Tagalog (my wife speaks that language) and they wouldn't help you unless you had to ask. The comforters had stains on them and the beds were really small. The locals say this is a hotel for hookers. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone unless you are a hooker. The floors were stained and dirty, (your feet get black in a matter of moments) and there were cockroaches in the hallways. STAY AWAY!!!

This hotel has a great location and a very reasonable price. Especially since everything in Waikiki was way expensive. For such a low rate, I was surprised to find my room very clean and with some recent remodels. I paid a tiny bit more for the room level above the basic, and was surprised to have a nice ocean view! No lanai, but the view was a lot more than I expected. Parking is $!5/day and the garage is frightening! All friendly...front desk, house keepers and maintenance (which did a small repair on the dripping turn off valve) and was there to fix it before I could hang up the phone. For such a low rate, I was surprised to find my room very clean and with some recent remodels. I paid a tiny bit more for the room level above the basic, and was surprised to have a nice ocean view! No lanai, but the view was a lot more than I expected. Parking is $!5/day and the garage is frightening! Very steep, and you have to call ahead for the code to park your car in the garage when you check in. Just a few blocks from the beach and felt safe to me.

If you want cheap, I think this is a good choice. 1 step up from a youth hostel: locking doors, private bath, clean enough, close to Waikiki. It's fine for what it is. I disagree with the other reviews: if you want cheap, don't expect it to be a fancy hotel.

Pros: Friendly, helpful staff

Help!!I If you have a rental vehicle no place to park when checking in.The five story garage is small and our Altima bottomed out at every turn going up.The Elevators were dirty and didn't give you a sense of security. The room was so small that you had to turn your suitcase to get into it to get pass the small desk.I think they are using old army beds.

The room was nice and small. However, we found a decent size roach the first night we were there. The hotel has smoking and non-smoking rooms; Parking sucks everywhere in Waikiki, however, at the aqua, the staff hand out more parking passes than spaces: this creates a mess wth parking. One night I had to leave our rental on a very inclined slope, not safe at all.

Stayed at the Property - Oct-2006

I found the hotel to be clean and tidy. Staff friendly and helpful. Speka at the front desk went out ofher way to help us with any questions we had. I saw nothing seedy about the area at all, the hotel is a half block from Waikiki Beach. Lots of shops, International Market is just 2 blocks away. Many food places to choose from. And sun and sand.

Cons: elevators

If you want cheap, I think this is a good choice. 1 step up from a youth hostel: locking doors, private bath, clean enough, close to Waikiki. It's fine for what it is. I disagree with the other reviews: if you want cheap, don't expect it to be a fancy hotel.

Pros: cheap
Cons: room quality

The hotel is an older building, but I was told they are starting to remodel it and this time next year it will be very nice. The rooms are standard, but clean. But first and formost is the staff. All friendly...front desk, house keepers and maintenance (which did a small repair on the dripping turn off valve) and was there to fix it before I could hang up the phone. They all helped us find anything we were looking for. They all made you feel like you were visiting a friend, not like it was part of their job talk to you, making my stay more enjoyable.

Pros: Friendly, helpful staff
Cons: Older hotel, but sign says starting remodel soon
