Excellent value for money. We were treated royally by all. Great doormen, concierge, porter. The room and bedding spotless & a king size bed to die for after a day trotting up steep steep hills! Free wine and beer from 5-6pm also a welcome bonus on a January day in front of the lobby fire. Cable car terminus, open top tour bus terminus and Pier 39 on door step. Tip...if pushed for time skip Alcatraz and take the 1 hour sail instead ...it goes under Golden Gate and right up to Alcatraz with excellent commentary. We loved it. Enjoy!

Pros: service
Cons: soundproofing

I loved staying at this hotel with our dog. They're a nice hotel with great doormen. Valet parking is steep at $39/night so consider not bringing a car if you have that option. The one MAJOR downside is how thin the walls are, you can hear everything! Not so good.

Pros: dog friendly and location
Cons: noise level

Rooms are great - have a nautical theme. History and original architecture designed into the hotel. Oustanding location because you can walk everywhere and never need a car. The cable car is at the corner, the trolley and bus is only two very short blocks. Buy the three day muni pass and see the city that is to far to walk too. You do not need a car unless you want to leave San Franciso on your own journey. Avoid the restaurant. We had three meals and problems were encountered everytime.

The Argonaut is in a great location on the Wharf. Fun and comfortable room and bed. Walking distance to many great restaurant, day cruises and stores (some unique and some touristy) and easy driving distance to the ocean and to other places of interest like Sausalito. Daily happy hour with free wine -- good wines and they pour a full glass. We had a great time!

Pros: location
Cons: larger counter in bathroom

Great location, beautiful decor. The walls are so thin you can hear your neighbor's TV. We requested a non-smoking room but our neighbor smoked and the smoke came into our room under the adjoining door and through the walls. Made it hard to relax. If you don't smoke, request a room with other non-smoker's on either side.

Pros: location
Cons: sound-proofing the walls

Great location, right on the wharf. Nicely decorated and ambiance that fits the area. Hotel staff couldn't have been better. Would've been nice to have a coffeemaker in the room. Restaurant is lousy, badly prepared food and marginal service. Go elsewhere to eat. Concierge was ok, set us up with two tours which worked out ok, but arranged transportation to airport which stunk. Stay away from the shuttle they use and take a taxi.

Pros: service from hotel staff
Cons: restaurant needs help badly

gorgeous hotel, awesome location, rooms are beautiful and spacious, beds are very comfortable. Unfortunately, the walls were made paper thin so we heard everything in our neighboring rooms. We complained and were moved, but it was no better. Screaming babies and small children next door were not very pleasant for a week-long romantic getaway for me and my husband. Hotel needs an adult-only floor, or to at least better insulate the walls. Front desk staff not very friendly but the doormen and bellmen were awesome.

Pros: location
Cons: noisy
