This hotel is the best in downtown Pittsburgh. Why? Cheapest, most recently renovated, actually an old building so it has HIGH ceilings (like 13 feet!) in the rooms, perfect decor, quiet because it's all cement/brick construction, cool lobby with a gas fireplace to just sit and chill, and right next to (maybe) the best restaurant in Pittsburgh, the California-cool restaurant and wine bar, Sonoma Grille. A tapas bar is across the street. Right next to the cultural district and convention center.

I had just arrived at the hotel after a very long trip from Texas. I had to drive from San Antonio to Atlanta over night, catch a flight to Pittsburgh at 9am. I was over-tired and had to quickly shower and change to head to my engagement. When I arrived at the desk, not one of the three agents greeted me with a smile or hello, one in fact raised her eyebrow at me and treated me like I was a second class citizen. I was dressed in flip flops, cargo shorts and a 2-day old t-shirt with a heavy shadow as I could not shave or shower for 2-days.

2nd time staying here on business. Rooms very standard, no amenities such as microwave/refrigerator/fruit in lobby etc. You want it, you pay, even for the bottled water in the room. Don't expect a room with a view of the city.
